Hope lies sleeping in a gilded box
Protected from famine and pox
Yet that’s not quite true
For then how could hope be held by me and you
For hope is like dark
Which exists where there is no spark
Hope’s nemesis is what remains caged
That life can be unstaged
For knowledge of life’s evil dims hope’s view
That bright sight that enables all possibilities to be true
