The Lorelei Signal
She Does Not Look Back
Written by Lisa Timpf / Artwork by Marcia Borell

This flood of stars
is not his usual river.
But Laika is a special case.
It falls to Cerberus
to lead her home
to greener fields.
Who will she await
at Rainbow Bridge?
Cerberus does not know.
Perhaps she will remember
a friendly face
from her distant past.
Cerby knocks.
Inside the spacecraft,
readouts flatline.
“Come, little one.”
Laika follows,
and does not look back.
